Carolyn and I have known each other for three-to-four years (kids and health muddle my memory). We met at our local American Night Writer’s Association group and have worked together to improve our own stories and everyone else’s.
Our group of about ten women is unique. So often in professional niches, participants spend their time one-upping each other or putting others down to get ahead. That’s not the case for us.
Even though our backgrounds, writing styles, genres, and stages of life are completely different, we care deeply about each other. We want each other to succeed. If someone gets a rejection, we mourn with them. If someone gets a full request from an agent, we scream and booty dance.
Writing is important.
Literature has shaped our world for centuries, and you and I can be part of that movement. I want you to succeed. Carolyn wants you to succeed.
Why?
Your perspective is unique. Your voice is needed.
Because you are unique, and your life experiences and perspective will be completely different from mine. And no matter what you write, whether gothic horror, sweet romance, or self-help, or anything in between, YOU will imprint on the pages. And I want to read that. I want to learn and experience as much as I can from you.
But I’ll never get to unless you learn how to be a kick-butt writer.
So, please, join us. Learn from us. And let us learn from you. Even if we never get to communicate personally with you, we care about your writing. You have the power to influence the world, and we are excited to help you get there.
